This performance-based standard greatly exceeds Energy Star and Kentucky building codes\, and represents the future of building design in an age of increasing energy costs and climate change. DESCRIPTION:We will meet in the library's Community Room at 6:30 p.m.    Sustainable Berea is partnering with Home Energy Partners to present ways to improve home energy efficiency.    Home Energy Partners will hear from participants about their energy efficiency needs and discuss simple repair/retro-fit solutions. Prior to December's meeting\, Home Energy Partners will complete 1-2 home energy audits. This subsequent RHP meeting will be held at a participant's home\, where we will see the results of the audit and have time for some hands-on retro-fit work that can easily be completed on one's own.  Home Energy Partners will also share information on incentives and rebates available for audits and retro-fit work.    Tuesday's meeting will include a follow-up discussion on the Neighborhood Food Feasts.    Please bring a recipe utilising in-season meat\, fruits and vegetables\, as well as any winter gardening\, food storage or seed saving tips you may have to share for the website.

DESCRIPTION:The annual heirloom seed-swap and meet-n-greet at the Sustainable Mountain Agriculture Center is firm for this year. Bill Best will again be hosting the event on Saturday\, October 1\, at the SMAC  farm in Berea\, Kentucky.         When it comes to both the number of seeds available for trade\, sale\, or just plain gifting\, and the assembled knowledge possessed by the group who regularly attend\, this is one of the most significant such meetings of the heirlooms year---particularly for those interested in Appalachian heirlooms.
