The Perfect Storm
It is useful to occasionally revisit the reasons why it is essential that Berea and other communities take immediate steps to increase their resilience. Sustainable Berea has assembled a status report on six of the main threats to our community – peak oil, climate change, global population growth, ecosystem and resource decline, an unstable global financial system, and increasing social anarchy. For the busy reader, the status of each is summarized in one to two sentences, and references are provided for more in-depth review. We hope you will read the summary, explore the issues further, and then begin or continue your work to increase the resilience of your household and community.
Sustainable Berea Awarded a Federal Stimulus Grant
Sustainable Berea has been awarded a federal stimulus grant of $6,500 through the Foothills Compassion Capital Fund Project to survey residents of Berea about their knowledge about issues related to sustainability.
