Members of the Resilient Household Project met on December 6 to create plans for 2012.

RHP Members met December 6, 2011

Present: Paul and Susan Wells, Nick Mullins, Doug DeGroot, Pam Gammon, Cheyenne Olson

The RHP identified topics for discussion in 2012: energy, food, water, shelter, clothing, health and staying healthy, comfort and productivity, community/neighborhood development, safety and security, finances/local finances, transportation and communications.

The group decided that light refreshments would be served at every meeting.

The next meeting will be January 3 at 6:30pm in the Berea Public Library theatre. Topics for discussion will include transportation (facilitator will be Pam Gammon), constructing an active low-cost solar collector (facilitator will be Doug DeGroot) and the housing envelope, “What I learned from my home energy audit” (Nick Mullins, facilitator).

The group decided that meetings should welcome a broad range of people from the community to share their experience with topics discussed. Flyers will be produced and posted around town two weeks in advance of each meeting and the membership will be emailed with topics and dates of upcoming RHP meetings.

In other discussion: The Four Season Gardening book by Elliot Coleman was suggested as an excellent source for home gardeners.
