A message about the Resilient Household Project

THE Resilient Household Project is a group of people who are meeting monthly to learn how to prepare households to use less energy, water, purchased food, goods, and services.  The group will meet Tuesday, Dec 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Berea Public Library to set the agenda for meetings throughout the 2012 year.

“The group started about two years ago but there was not a lot of interest,” said Paul Wells, co-coordinator for the group.

“As the economy changes, more people become interested in saving money and we now have a solid group and it is growing,” he said.

Wells, who has built his own house and co-coordinator Nick Mullins have nurtured the group over the last four months.

“We are now calling for anyone who wants to learn, and for  those who want to share with us what they have already done.” Mullins said.

The group has had sessions on water wells, solar energy, insulation, bulk food purchasing, forming task-sharing cooperatives, local money systems, tool sharing programs.

The December meeting will gather ideas from participants  for the 2012 calendar year and topics will be set for each month.

“We hope a lot of people come to voice their views and let us know what they want to learn abou,”, Mullins said.
